With 30 years of experience in the industry, Jason has gained a wealth of knowledge and expertise including MCIEEM qualification. As our Managing Director, he is well-equipped to advise clients on the best courses of action, providing tailored solutions that combine his deep understanding of ecology and horticulture with practical, actionable advice. Outside of work, Jason enjoys unwinding with his wife and two sons.

Emma Candlin

Head of Operations

As Head of Operations, Emma plays a key role in ensuring everything within the company runs smoothly. She’s responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations and identifying new opportunities for growth and improvement. With her strategic mindset and attention to detail, Emma helps streamline processes and drive efficiency across the organisation. Outside of work, Emma enjoys spending quality time with her family, socialising with friends, and catching the latest films at the cinema.

Isobel Bridgett

Client Manager

As our Client Manager, Isobel provides expert guidance on all aspects of bat surveys required for planning applications, including Preliminary Roost Assessments (PRAs) and Bat Emergence Surveys. She supports clients in navigating the complexities of the planning regulations where bats may be present. From initial enquiry to final report delivery, Isobel ensures clear communication, tailored advice, and a smooth, efficient process — making her an essential part of our team and a trusted partner for your project.

Ioana Andor

Ecologist

Ioana is a first class graduate with a BSc (Hons) in Animal Behaviour and Psychology and a MSc in Wildlife Conservation. She has been working as an ACIEEM ecologist for the past 3 years, specialising in behavioural ecology. Her favourite UK species is the charming robin and in her spare time she enjoys taking part in environmental work and bird watching. She has worked on thousands of residential and commercial scale jobs, as well as some rewilding projects in her local area.

Emma Hughes

Ecologist

Emma supports the delivery of ecological surveys and assessments, working closely with senior team members to help clients meet planning and environmental requirements. With a solid foundation in ecological fieldwork, she has undertaken dozens of surveys. With a keen eye for detail, she contributes to habitat surveys and reporting across a range of projects. Emma plays a valuable role in ensuring smooth coordination and high-quality support throughout the ecological process.

Owen Brown

Ecologist

Owen is a qualified Ecologist with a BSc in Biology, bringing both expertise and a deep passion for wildlife conservation to every project. He has completed hundreds of surveys conducting Preliminary Roost Assessments (PRAs) and Bat Emergence and Re-entry Surveys, ensuring all ecological requirements are met for planning applications. Owen’s role is central to delivering thorough, reliable surveys that support sustainable development and drive the company’s ecological standards forward. Outside of the office, Owen is an avid sports fan, with a particular love for football. He supports Stoke City FC and enjoys watching the game whenever he can.

Annette Lucas

Business Development

Annette’s role is to drive growth by identifying new business opportunities and pitching our services to potential clients. She’s also dedicated to building and nurturing strong relationships with both new and existing contacts, ensuring lasting partnerships that contribute to the success of the company. Annette’s passion for connecting with people and her strategic approach to business development are key to expanding our client base and sustaining long-term success.

Rebecca Derbyshire

Marketing Manager

Rebecca leads our marketing efforts, overseeing brand strategy, digital outreach, and promotional campaigns that raise awareness of our specialist bat survey services. Her ability to combine creative insight with strategic planning helps ensure our message reaches the right audiences — from homeowners to planning consultants. Rebecca’s work is key to building trust in our services and supporting sustainable development. Outside of work, she enjoys travelling, hiking and hitting the weights at the gym.

Operations Manager

As Operations Manager Laura plays a crucial role in keeping our fieldwork running smoothly. She oversees the procurement and coordination of all essential survey equipment, ensuring our ecologists are fully equipped for every site visit — from Preliminary Roost Assessments to Bat Emergence Surveys. Her attention to detail and logistical expertise help maintain efficiency and reliability across all our operations. Outside of work Laura enjoys spending time with her family.

Hannah Burton

Ecologist

Hannah has undertaken hundreds of surveys including PRA's and bat emergence surveys. She loves the variety her role offers. Whether she’s conducting surveys outdoors or working alongside our fantastic team in the office, Hannah thrives on the balance of fieldwork and collaborative projects. Her passion for the environment and commitment to her work shine through in everything she does. Outside of work, Hannah enjoys spending time with her two beloved bunnies, Raven and Clover.

Krystina Hickin

Office Manager

Krystina plays a vital role in the day-to-day running of Bat Surveyors and our parent company ProHort. She ensures that every project stays on track and on schedule. From coordinating survey appointments to managing internal workflows, they keep the office operating smoothly and efficiently. Their organisational skills and oversight help ensure timely delivery of reports, clear communication with clients, and seamless support for our field teams.

Viktoriia

Viktoriia Kalinina

Accounts Assistant

Originally from Ukraine, Viktoriia holds a master’s degree in law and has a background as a notary assistant, where she worked with complex documents that demanded meticulous attention to detail and accuracy. These skills have been invaluable in her current role, where precision is key in managing our financial records. Outside of work, Viktoriia has a passion for baking and enjoys completing jigsaw puzzles. Since arriving in the UK, she has discovered a new creative hobby—attending pottery classes where she loves making various pieces, including pots, cups bowls and vases.
